We are seeking a strategic and results-driven Director of Managed Care Accounting to lead and oversee the strategy and analysis of our payor AR functions across a large and complex healthcare system. This remote leadership role will be instrumental in driving revenue cycle performance and ensuring accurate and timely billing, collections, and reconciliation in accordance with payor contracts and healthcare regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, develop, and manage a high-performing team responsible for managed care revenue functions across the organizatin
- Oversee and monitor the financial performance of payor receivables, implementing strategies to reduce AR days and improve cash flow.
- Provide strategic oversight of payor contract compliance, ensuring accurate interpretation and execution of terms across billing and collections.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Revenue Cycle, Compliance, Finance, and Accounting to align AR performance with organizational goals.
- Utilize deep knowledge of healthcare revenue cycle and accounting principles to guide financial reporting and reconciliation processes.
- Direct and support the month-end and year-end close activities as they relate to AR and general ledger integration.
- Drive the development and refinement of key performance indicators (KPIs) for AR performance monitoring and team accountability.
- Identify system and process improvement opportunities; lead the design and execution of solutions to streamline operations, enhance efficiencies, and reduce errors.
- Lead and support the implementation and optimization of healthcare billing systems, ensuring seamless integration with financial and clinical platforms.
- Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local regulations as well as payer contract requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required; CPA or advanced degree is a plus.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in healthcare accounts receivable, with at least 5 years in a leadership or director-level role.
- Proven experience in a large, multi-entity health system or hospital network is required.
- Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and financial close processes.
- In-depth knowledge of managed care contract management, healthcare billing, and collections processes.
- Demonstrated success in leading process improvement initiatives and implementing healthcare billing or revenue cycle systems.
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to manage, mentor, and inspire high-performing teams.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in financial systems and revenue cycle management software; ERP experience preferred (e.g., Epic, Cerner, Oracle, etc.)
